i am sorry to post this as i found out that a user must be approved before he can login. :) one question that i have is still up , is this applicable to all zones as in the deployment guide it says only Default Zone.

I first tried to apply this solution on the intranet zone and was unsuccessful and then i tried it on the Default zone and i am still facing the same issue. I am able to login as the master uses but i am not able to login as the users i add in the Members List. I am using WSS 3.0. I have already added the roles to the members group of the site. does anybody has faced such problem or have any idea what i am doing wrong. thanks

Does anyone have New User Registration page that works with this membership provider that they are willing to share?

I have been unsuccessful in getting a new user registration page working that populates anything other than "basic" field provided by the CreateUserWizard.

I have tried other projects, including the Forms based administation project from CodePlex without any luck.

Any pointers or insite would be helpful.

We actually got this working ok now that we've moved to a new server.

Although, it appears that alerts are not working for users that are simply added to a role which is then added to a SharePoint group. If a user is manually added to the group alerts work fine, however, if a user is only in a role, it does not work. Would your issue "disposing Sharepoint" possibly help to address this?

Hi guys. For all of you looking for the membershiplogin.aspx patch, here is where you can get a hold of it.

First, click on the "Source code" from the top bar. You will then see a page that lists the checked in versions of the project.

Just under the top bar, you should see 3 links. The first one is where you currently are : Recent Check-ins

The second link is where you want to go : Patches.

When you click on that link, you will be presented a form where you can download all the patches that were created for a project - in this case, there is only one which is the membershiplogin page patch.

Please don't ask me questions about usage - I am not that familiar with all this. I just wanted to help those looking for the patch.

I am eager to see the next release of this tool - it is great, once you passed the first configuration.

Way to go mattranlett!!!

Update : Forgot to say thanks to HaroldPGray for the membershiplogin patch as well. Thanks Harold - it helped a lot.

I have a situation where I will need about 70 Roles. I see that a Roles list has been created, but how would I get that to be utilized? I figure I could change the "Roles" column in the default membership list to be a lookup column pointing to the Roles list instead of simply being a choice column, but I don't know if that would break the Roles membership provider or if anything else needs to be changed in the web.config. Can anyone help out here?

I'm not 100% sure if this is related to your tool or not, but I've been using this for a while now and it's been amazing. Thank you for sharing it.
However, the past few weeks, we've been running into a problem where SharePoint will not work. Every morning between 2:30 and 2:45 AM something happens and the users can login and authenticate, but when they do it throws up an error page. Here is the error we get:

Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services.

IISreset fixes the issue in no time, but it comes back every day. Any thoughts?

I am trying to implement forms authentication using "Intellinet Custom Membership and Roles" .
To customize its functionality, I want to change the code. But when I try to build the solution in Visual Studio, I get the following error.

This is really a very usefull SharePoint extension. But I have one "little" problem: After a successfully login, the user is always redirected to the root website, although the querystring shows the typically redirect parameter.

Could someone explain how I can modify the form used to manage users?
I know it is linked directly to the list called "Site Members", but I wanted to change some of the fields around and modify the order in which we enter the data but I can't find where I can modify that form.

I keep getting an access denied page after i log into the memberlogin.aspx page.
I am using vista with bamboo's sharepoint helper file. I'm not sure if this is due to the new version of IIS or what. What sort of info can i provide to you for troubleshooting help? Since this machine has nothing on it except vista and sharepoint, if you would access to it let me know via email.

Please note, the documentation contains errors :(

In section "Final Web.config changes" the documentation says change to
<authentication mode=”Forms”>

<Forms loginUrl=”/membership/memberlogin.aspx” />

</authentication>
This is wrong, web.config is case sensitive.... and it should be
<authentication mode=”Forms”>

<forms loginUrl=”/-- your applicaiton path here (a) --/memberlogin.aspx” />

</authentication>

In my case I did it easy for me and just put it in the _layouts folder, just be aware when service packs arrives...the file might be deleted/overwritten...

And also as I read from another post, check the box for IsApproved for the user account

I tried your install without success. I have some questions about the install document...

1) Find the entry <trust level=”WSS_Minimal” originalURL=”” /> and change the trust level to Full so the line reads <trust level="Full" originUrl="" />

Which WSS_Minimul are you referring to?

4) When I set this in the web.config file for the central admin does this mean I can only have one site collection that can uses a list provider? Can I add another section in <providers> for another collection that uses its own SiteURL?
When I set it for the web application web.config file can more than one web app use the same SiteURL? Can more than one site collection use the same SiteURL?

What is the scope of these tags with respect to the web app and CA?
